Spruce Head, ME—David and Beverly Worthington are pleased to announce that the 2016 graduates of Camden Hills Regional High School will be eligible to apply for the Worthington Scholarship. The Worthington Scholarship is a generous scholarship open to students attending all branches of the University of Maine system, all branches of the Maine community college system, as well as Maine Maritime Academy and Husson University. The award amount is $3,000 per year. Students with a cumulative “B” average (3.0) may attend any of the schools listed above, and may renew their scholarship for the duration of an accredited four year degree program, provided they remain enrolled full time and maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher. Students with a “C” average (2.0) may attend any of Maine’s community colleges, or enroll in 2-year program at University College Rockland. They are also eligible to renew their scholarship once, provided they remain enrolled full time and maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher. All students must complete a financial literacy course offered by New Ventures Maine before receiving funds, and are expected to communicate periodically with the Worthington College Mentor, Caitlin Clark. Caitlin will assist students with the transition to college, and will be available to help students with major and career exploration. Camden Hills students will be able to apply for this scholarship using the existing scholarship packet, with a deadline of April 1st. Scholarships will be awarded based on a combination of financial need and academic promise.
