About the Foundation
Worthington Scholarship Foundation (WSF) was founded on the belief that when it comes to higher education, hard work and character should matter more than finances or GPA. Our founders, Beverly and David Worthington, were inspired by the tenacity of Maine students and made it their mission to empower a new generation of Mainers to access post-secondary education through scholarships tailored for them. WSF isn’t just a scholarship foundation; it’s also a resource, preparing Maine students to navigate through life well beyond long after they’ve finished their degrees and certificates.

Our History
Inspired by the perseverance of Maine students to look beyond the economic barriers they face, Beverly and David began supporting student’s transition from high school to college in 2010. Growing up under the same circumstances as many of our scholars, Beverly and David are passionate about helping these students advance their own education.
Before retirement, Beverly was a commercial pilot and aerial application business owner, and David was the principal owner of TGS Geophysical Company, a worldwide seismic data acquisition and processing company. Together, Beverly, David and the WSF team have helped dedicated Maine students pursue a post-secondary education in the state of Maine. Since its founding, WSF has awarded hundreds of 4-year college and 2-year college scholarships to Maine students across 13 counties.
With a team of student support specialists, WSF goes beyond financial support and is also a valuable resource for scholars, designed to support them as they navigate post-secondary education. WSF will continue to adapt based on the needs of its scholars, as it works towards the goal of empowering the next generation of Mainers through access to higher education.
